CCU reach their 34th edition, aiming to promote sports among the members of the university community. The coordination of the championships is rotatory among the twelve Catalan universities that create the Catalan University Sport (ECU) and this year 2018-2018 the University of Barcelona is in charge of it. The hosting city changes every season in order to promote the ties between university and society and bring a wider visibility. This year, lʼHospitalet de Llobregat -where the UB is quite present through Bellvitge Campus- was chosen to host the championships of team sports.

Until March 2019, more than 1,600 sports players from a hundred teams of the twelve Catalan universities will visit lʼHospitalet. There will be competitions of womenʼs and menʼs basketball, womenʼs and menʼs football 11; and womenʼs and menʼs futsal, womenʼs and menʼs handball; womenʼs and menʼs rugby, and womenʼs and menʼs volleyball. Xarxa de Televisions Locals de Catalunya (local television network) will transmit the finals live and other pre-recorded games, as well as some reports. Last season, broadcasts were watched by more than 150,000 spectators.

Results of the games will be available in the website of the Catalan University Championships.
