Use of artificial intelligence to improve public administration, topic of the seminar to close the UB master’s degree on anti-corruption

The opening conference Corruption and Government, will be given by Professor Susan Rose-Ackerman, from Yale University, author of the book Corruption and Government: Causes, Consequences and Reform, which has been translated into seventeen languages and recently published in Spanish by Marcial Pons. Another conference in the seminar, by Professor Mihaly Fazekas from the School of Public Policy of the Central European University, will analyse how big data and artificial intelligence can be used to analyse and promote the quality of the governments.  

A roundtable with the journalists Oriol Güell (El País), Patrícia López (Público), Javier Ruiz Pérez (cadena SER), Arturo Puente (diario.es) and Eduardo Martín de Pozuelo (La Vanguardia) will debate on investigative journalism and freedom of expression and information, with journalist Josep Cuní as chairperson.

There will be other roundtables and conferences on the prevention of corruption, freedom of expression and social networks, among other topics. Juli Ponce, co-director of the masterʼs degree on prevention, control and reaction against corruption at the UB, will present his book Mejora de la regulación, lobbies y Huella Normativa (Tirant lo Blanc) which studies specific cases of application of the Catalan regulation on lobbies and analyses the available big data on the internet. A roundtable with academicians from different universities will analyse the topic of interest groups and lobbies, as well as the so-called normative footprint, and the practice reflecting the informal participation of interest groups in the process of the creation of standards.
