The UB community, always standing by society: thank you everyone!
The University of Barcelona doesnʼt stop. Regarding the health alert on COVID-19, all the collectives of the UB have taken action and are showing their commitment and generosity to fight this virus.
The University of Barcelona doesnʼt stop. Regarding the health alert on COVID-19, all the collectives of the UB have taken action and are showing their commitment and generosity to fight this virus.
We want to highlight all donations that were made to hospitals: the campuses of the faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences, Pharmacy and Food Sciences, and the faculties of Biology, Chemistry, Pscyhology and the Science and Technological Centers of the UB. They gathered more than 1,000 hospital gowns, 9,000 masks and 200,000 different gloves, apart from personal protection equipment, laboratory glasses and other health materials.
Also, the Barcelona Science Park has donated 900 hospital gowns, 10,000 hats, 45,500 gloves, 10,000 masks, 12,000 booties and 80 Tyveks©, and Josep Finestres Foundation gathered material for the Bellvitge Hospital (12,600 gloves, 14,000 masks, 350 gowns and 25 glasses), and the Nursing School has provided sixteen beds, one therapeutic adapter and a medical defribillator.
In addition, more than 400 students of Medicine and Nursing cursing their last year, have answered the call to help and collaborate with the Department of Health, announced last week.
Also, many members of the UB community are collaborating as volunteers in several tasks: students, research staff, graduates, retired staff and administrative and services staff, are giving their best in this exceptional situation.
For all these reasons, the University of Barcelona is proud of its community and wants to thank its members for always -and specially now- standing by society.
