The School of Modern Languages offers new course modalities
The School of Modern Languages (EIM) opens its registration for the academic year 2020/2021, with a wide range of courses which bears almost two hundred groups and training modalities that adapt everyoneʼs needs. This yearʼs program offers courses for level accreditation, exam preparation to take official examinations, 50-hour modular courses and senior courses adapted to people aged over 55. The enrolment, to be regularized in October, will be open until the beginning of each course.

Online, videoconference and bimodal teaching courses
With special attention to the adaption to protocols presented by the health authorities, EIM starts a new academic year guaranteeing a safe learning regarding face-to-face courses. However, the School reinforced the offer of groups in other learning modalities to adapt the new context, in which the training and online work are gaining presence as a consequence of the health situation.
First, there are online courses: these are taught online, using digital resources and tools but with the tutoring and guidance of a lecturer. This year, the offer of groups in this category is wider and students can course English, German and French courses. Secondly, there are videoconference courses, aimed at those who wish to study online and practice their communication skills. In this modality, EIM offers English, French, Italian and Chinese courses. And last, there are bimodal teaching courses, which combine face-to-face and online or videoconference lessons. These offer tools and resources to study at home and practise speaking and comprehension skills. This modality is available for the English, German, French and Italian courses.
Long-lived and consolidated tradition in second language learning
The School of Modern Languages is a consolidated institution in the sector of second language learning. Since 1953, it has offered training with quality vocation and formal requirements. Its training offer has the Prestige of the University of Barcelona and allows students to get European official accreditations. The courses can be annual or by semester, and there are intensive courses too. These are aimed at the university community and all people with a high school diploma.
EIM was also consolidated in the field of accreditations: it is an examination center for prestigious language degrees such as Cambridge English, DELF, Zertificat Deustch and CLUC CertAcles. It also offers the option to take the tests outside these examination calls. Also, the university students can validate up to six ECTS credits in bachelorʼs degrees.
Regarding the fees, the School of Modern Languages applies a reduced fee to all former students and many collectives. Each of its courses has information on the grants that can be applied to defray language learning. Last, in times of crisis, the need for training is more urgent, so EIM has included the option of partial payment. This is done so that everyone can enjoy language learning in the framework of an institution like EIM.
