UB Sponsors, an initiative to support research and development
The University of Barcelona launches its initiative called UB Sponsors, which invites the UB community and citizenship to know more about research, development and solidarity projects and support them. UB Sponsors revolves around a series of innovative projects that have a positive impact on society and which need philanthropic support. Some of the ongoing campaigns are, for instance, research on the fight against COVID-19, maintaining grants and study materials for people under situations of economic vulnerability, university welcome to refugee students and the restoration of architectural heritage.

But UB Sponsors does not exist to raise funds and delimit them to these specific projects, it also establishes a long-term collaboration with society in order to give back all the knowledge the University generates and gives a response to social needs. Donations benefit from important tax reductions (up to a 80%), so the final contribution has little impact on the donor and a big one on the project. For instance, if one donates 150 euros, the tax administration (Hacienda) will give 120 euros back.
