The UB is listed among the top universities worldwide in 35 of the 54 scientific areas analysed by the Shanghai Rankingʼs Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2022. The UB holds a position among the top 100 worldwide in six of the analysed subjects: Physics, Human Biology, Agricultural Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Public Health and Nursing.

The UB is listed among the top universities worldwide in 35 of the 54 scientific areas analysed by the Shanghai Rankingʼs Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2022. The UB holds a position among the top 100 worldwide in six of the analysed subjects: Physics, Human Biology, Agricultural Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Public Health and Nursing.

The UB holds an outstanding position in Clinical Medicine, since it is listed in the 45th position worldwide. Regarding Agricultural Sciences and Human Biology, it is listed among the top 75 centres worldwide. As for Human Biology and Education, it has climbed positions compared to previous editions.

According to the results of the new ranking, the UB is the Spanish leading institution in ten disciplines. Specifically, it leads the list in Human Biology, Clinical Medicine, Nursing and Medical Technology. It shares the high positions with other Spanish institutions in the subjects of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physics, Environmental Science and Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Education and Psychology.

Regarding the universities on top of the list, these are Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with the highest number of subjects holding the first positions: 15 and 5 respectively.

The Shanghai Rankingʼs Global Ranking of Academic Subjects lists the universities in 54 disciplines, grouped into five areas: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences. The measuring indicators are research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality, and international academic awards.
