  • Pursuant to university legislation, the University of Barcelona carries out the public service of higher education through teaching, study and research. As a support tool for accessing its website, the University has the domain names ub.edu and ub.es, of which it is the owner. The use of the website implies the acceptance of the conditions set forth in this document.
  • The information contained on the University's website is intended to advertise the activities and services offered. The University strives to ensure that the information and services offered meet the necessary integrity, veracity, updating, accessibility and usability. In this sense, it is necessary to take into account the update date indicated in each case. The information provided through this website does not in any case replace the publication of laws, general provisions and administrative acts. These must be published in newspapers, official bulletins or the system that the University determines.
  • This website and all its contents, including texts, images, sounds, databases, codes and any other material, are the property of the University or of third parties who have authorized their use for the institution. All such material is subject to intellectual property laws. The respective holders reserve the appropriate legal actions to repair the damages caused by any act that violates the intellectual property rights of the contents.
  • The University reserves the right to make changes and updates to its website at any time and without prior notice.
  • Referring to the images of people that appear on the website, the University publishes them respecting the right to self-image. These images are used exclusively for the purpose of composing graphic files or videos, with the aim of informing and publicizing the University's activity. In no case are they used for other purposes, nor are they transferred to third parties without the corresponding authorization.
  • The University has implemented appropriate security measures to keep the website and its servers free of any malicious programs. Secure access to the website (such as to the electronic office) is done via the HTTPS protocol.
  • The University provides links on the website to its social media profiles (such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube), in order to promote its official accounts. Once any of these social networks is accessed, the user is subject to the policies established by each service.

In the event that you provide personal data, the treatment that may derive from it is subject to the provisions of the regulations on the protection of personal data. It should be noted that the University's website is not a publicly accessible source as provided for in these regulations.
 
  1. Data collected through forms
    • The University's website contains various forms that can be used to collect personal data. All of them contain the respective information clauses on the processing of personal data, which comply with the data protection regulations.
    • Likewise, and when required by data protection regulations, the consent of the affected person is also requested to process or transfer their personal data. For this purpose, what is indicated in each clause must be taken into account.
    • In any case, the University only processes the personal data of the affected people that are adequate, relevant and not excessive for the fulfillment of the specific, explicit and legitimate purposes for which they were obtained. Likewise, it guarantees the security of the personal data of the users of the website through the application of different types of security measures of a technical and organizational nature.
    • As provided by the data protection regulations, minors can give consent to the processing of their personal data in the case they are over fourteen years old. People under the age of 14 will require the consent of a parent or guardian. The University is not responsible for the personal data provided by children under the age of fourteen without the consent of their parents or guardians.
       
  2. Transmission data
    Transmission data are implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols. The data generated by browsing the University's website is treated exclusively for technical purposes and by staff subject to the duty of confidentiality.

Accessibility

The University, in its commitment to achieve total elimination of visual and functional barriers on the website, conforms to the intermediate level (AA) of the accessibility guidelines established by the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) working group of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). It should be kept in mind that the website is dynamic and, as a result, it is impossible to verify each and every web page that may be viewed at any given time. This means that if a user has any problem in relation to the accessibility to navigate through any of these web pages, they can notify us by email (entorns.web@ub.edu).

Regarding the visual design, this website uses style sheets for the visual format of the information and only relative font sizes have been used, compatible with the personal text size options of the browsers. However, if the browser used does not allow the use of style sheets, it is possible to browse without display issues by selecting the option to browse without page styles.

 

Rules for the use of social networks

The University's social media channels are institutional channels that pursue the following goals: a) provide information the general public about the University, the research carried out, its educational offer, the services of the institution and other initiatives, and b) build and strengthen the sense of belonging and pride of the UB community.

Pursuant to the Statutes of the University, which proclaim in article 4 the principles of freedom, democracy, justice, equality and solidarity, all members must adhere to these values and ensure respect for people's dignity.

Comments should respect opinions and encourage polite, respectful and constructive dialogue. All comments that threaten the safety of people or that may suppose a risk to them, that threaten their dignity or rights, that promote hatred or violence, that are discriminatory for any reason or that include personal disqualifications, insults or defamatory or unfounded comments that affect the public image of the University will be deleted.

The University reserves the right to remove or block comments or publications that violate these rules, or to report users who do not respect them.
