The League of European Research Universities (LERU) is an association of 23 research-intensive universities with a shared concern for quality teaching in an internationally competitive research environment. Since its foundation in 2002, LERU has pursued excellence in education by pushing the boundaries of human knowledge, generating new knowledge through basic research, channeling research into innovation for the public benefit, and promoting research in collaboration with industry and wider society. The UB became a LERU member in 2010 and is currently the only Spanish representative in the association. The highest decision-making body of the LERU is the Rectors' Assembly, which meets twice a year at a different member institution. The participation of the UB at the LERU is coordinated from the Vice-rectorate for Research through the figure of Senior Officer of the UB at the LERU, which currently corresponds to the current delegate of the rector for Strategic Research Actions (dl.r
