Margarita Salas Postdoctoral Fellow

DAVID FONTANALS is a Margarita Salas Postdoctoral Research Fellow and a member of ADHUC-Research Center on Theory, Gender, Sexuality of the Universitat de Barcelona. He earned his Ph.D. with a dissertation on Stefan Zweig and his ethical and political commitment to the idea of Europe, which was awarded the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize 2019-2020. His main interest is in the field of American Studies, where he conducts research on the work of Henry James and the study of domestic spaces in U.S. Literature. Currently, as a postdoctoral researcher, he is on a research stay at Instituto Franklin-UAH (2022-2024) to carry out the project “Hospitality and Domestic Politics of Mediation in the Works of Henry James (1843-1916)”, which examines the house as a place of encounter and as a space of mediation between “European” and “American” ways of seeing—and being in—the world in James’s international fiction.
