Cultural Policy and Cultural Diplomacy

Cultural Policy and Cultural Diplomacy

The research group’s investigations around cultural policy have been carried out for many years, by means of several research contracts and competitive projects, as well as numerous doctoral thesis. Such work has resulted in a significant number of publications, some of which are baseline references in the area of knowledge. In this regard, Arturo Rodriguez Morató and Mariano Martín Zamorano are currently editing a special issue of the International Journal of Cultural Policy, the most important journal in the field, about the Ibero-American space of cultural polices. The other research topic within this line is Cultural Diplomacy, a policy of growing relevance for understanding cultural relations and which is ones of the main interests of our group today.

In recent years, the EU project H2020 CulturalBase: Social Platform on Cultural Heritage and European Identities, led by Arturo Rodríguez Morató, developed at the intersection between this line of research (2) and line Art and Creativity, has been a particularly important activity for the group. This project, which derived publications are still in process of elaboration, has also opened new interests for the group (about the social value of culture, on the knowledge dynamics in cultural governance and also as regards the keys of cultural creativity).
