- Bachelor's and pre-EHEA degree holders in any area of health (medicine, psychology, nursing, etc.).
- Preferably, pediatricians and nurses specializing in neonatology, psychologists and psychiatrists specializing in mental health in early childhood, and professionals who work in child development and early care centres (CDIAP).
The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
General objectives:
- To acquire the training to make accurate and reliable use of the Brazelton Scale, following the directives of the Brazelton Institute, Boston.
- To acquire a basic practical understanding of neonatal behavioural assessment, applicable to newborns and young infants.
Specific objectives:
- To understand the medical background, and know how to contextualise the study and assessment of behaviour in the newborn.
- To understand the basic aspects of pediatric assessment applicable to newborns and young infants.
- To gain practical knowledge of observing and assessing neonatal behaviour using the NBAS, which is applicable up to two months of age.
- To show efficient application of the NBAS.
- To understanding the range of clinical intervention techniques use in perinatal psychology and the early treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders.
