Introduction

This online Congress aims to address various problems related to the research and management of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) from an international perspective, with a special emphasis on its social, political and economic aspects. Conceived with an interdisciplinary perspective, it also aims to welcome both researchers and professionals and organizations dedicated to ICH to reflect on its different dimensions: its safeguarding, its tourism possibilities, the experiences of good practices in its management, its museum challenges and its sustainability challenges, among other aspects. Especially at the present time, the pandemic has highlighted the weaknesses of the ICP and also its capacity for resilience, which allows us to address the future challenges of this heritage.

This activity is linked to the research project “Patrimonio Inmaterial y Políticas Culturales: desafíos sociales, políticos y museológicos”(PGC2018-096190-B-I00), funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación / Agencia Estatal de Investigación / European Regional Development Fund, European Union.
