The exhibition of the Museu d’Història de Barcelona (MUHBA) “Barcelona & Futbol. The great social game of the 20th century ”, curated by the professor of the Carles Santacana Section (together with Xavier Pujades) and of which the professor of the Carles Vinyas Section has also been a documentary filmmaker.
The exhibition aims to reflect on how football has contributed to the social construction of the city throughout the twentieth century: in the uses of public space, in internationalization and in the economy; in the media, in local stories, rivalries, Sunday habits, play, and toys; in everyday life, in the construction of neighborhoods and personal, collective and territorial identities. At the same time, it wants to raise a reflection on the future of the relationship between the city and its institutions and football, especially in terms of its function of external projection, and the promotion of social cohesion and gender equality.
The opening ceremony will consist of a colloquium with the participation of Xavier Pujades and Carles Santacana, curators of the exhibition, Marta Iglesias and Joan Roca, of the MUHBA as well as footballers of women’s teams from various eras.
The colloquium will take place at the center of the MUHBA Oliva Artés, in C. Espronceda, 142-146 in Barcelona.
