Research Group in Analytic Philosophy

LOGOS is an international group of researchers who work on core issues in a variety of central areas of philosophy. Their research is unified by a common methodological approach properly characterized as analytic.

LOGOS is recognized by the Catalan government as a consolidated research group. It is a founding member of the Barcelona Institute of Analytic Philosophy, a María Maeztu Unit of Excellence.

Activities

LOGOS regularly organizes colloquia with invited speakers from Spain and abroad, internal research seminars, reading groups, as well as international workshops and conferences. Its predoctoral fellows run their own Graduate Research Seminar to discuss work-in-progress.

Based at the University of Barcelona, LOGOS is composed of permanent faculty and postdoctoral and predoctoral fellows, affiliated with the Universities of Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra and Girona, as well as the Autonomous University of Barcelona. It regularly hosts researchers and doctoral students visiting from institutions abroad.

LOGOS senior members regularly lead research projects on important philosophical topics across a variety of fields. These projects are part of highly competitive funding schemes and allow the group to finance its activities. They often come with fellowships for early stage researchers.

LOGOS members regularly publish their research with internationally renowned, peer-reviewed journals and publishing houses. They provide services to the profession as editors, members of editorial boards, and academic referees for top-tier publications.

LOGOS engages in a variety of activities of outreach to the interested public, making philosophical issues more readily accessible and providing insights into the research done by its members. LOGOS regularly contributes to the University of Barcelona’s BCN Pensa outreach festival and lecture series for secondary school teachers organized by the Catalan Society for Philosophy.
