Dr. Esther Moñivas

Lecturer in the Department of Painting and Conservation-Restoration at the Complutense University of Madrid. She holds a Ph.D. in History of Art from the Complutense University of Madrid and she has been accredited by the National Quality Assessment and Accreditation Agency of Spain as a “Profesora Titular”. She received both a a 5-year-Degree in History of Art from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (ESCRBC of Madrid). She has received grants from the Spanish National Credit Institute (ICO) and the Fundación Especial Caja Madrid for postgraduate studies and research. Between 2013 and 2018 she has been Lecturer at Universidad Internacional de la Rioja, Centro Universitario de Tecnología y Arte Digital (U-TAD) (2018-2019), and Nebrija University in the fields of Aesthetics and Art History (2013-2018), where has led the Cross-Sectional Surveys in Contemporary Artistic Creation (ETCC) Research Group. As professional she has worked in the fields of conservation-restoration of artworks, exhibition curatorship and museums education, both in private and public institutions. She was Guest Researcher in international projects at the CSIC Institute of Philosophy (2012-2015) and at the Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien (2013-2016). Since 2016 she has been part of the consolidated research group IMARTE. Her research deals with the relationship between art, science and technology, analyzing the operative-imaginative dimension of new media and materials. She studies the processes of current artistic practices from transdisciplinary methodologies and develops theoretical-practical research from the perspective of New Materialisms and Critical Heritage Studies.
