A collaborative work between Nanoscience and Bio-Inorganic Chemistry (nanoBIC), Homogeneous Catalysis, Mechanisms of Reactions in Inorganic Chemistry and Magnetism and Functional Molecules Group (GMMF) and researchers from IDIBELL and Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Aragón (ICMA), describes that the DMSO-induced cyclometalation of ruthenium half-sandwich complexes bearing a pyrenyl-containing phosphane ligand converts inactive compounds into highly cytotoxic ones.
