Other specific documentation related to the selection criteria

Admission and pre-enrolment for official university studies are completed in two stages. Students must first complete the online admission form, for consideration by the Admissions Committee (http://bit.ly/VCVEcl). Successful students then submit the online pre-enrolment form to the Master’s and Doctoral Office of the Faculty of Economics and Business (http://bit.ly/YAFbbj).

A pre-enrolment fee of €30 is payable. A payment option must be selected from the online pre-enrolment form. Payment of the pre-enrolment fee entitles students to assistance with the pre-enrolment process and to receive notification of the study of equivalence of their bachelor's degree qualification.

Students must also submit the following documentation:

1. Photocopy of the original bachelor’s degree certificate (or certificate of equivalent qualification), duly authenticated by the issuing body. The document must be a certified copy and legalized by the appropriate diplomatic channels.

A certified copy can be obtained from the Spanish embassy or consulate general in the country of issue. Notarized copies are not accepted.

The legalization procedure depends on the country in which the documentation was issued:

  • Students whose documents were issued in countries covered by the Apostille Convention must request affixation of the Hague Apostille.
  • Students whose documents were issued in any other country must request legalization through the Spanish Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Spanish consulate general in the country of issue.

2. Photocopy of the academic transcript for the bachelor’s degree used for admission (including marks). This document should contain the full list of subjects taken during the bachelor’s degree, the marks awarded, and the total study load in hours for each subject. The transcript must be duly authenticated by the issuing body and submitted as a certified copy legalized via the appropriate diplomatic channels (see above).

3. Photocopy of national identity document / passport. This document does not need to be authenticated or legalized.

The above documentation must be sent by ordinary mail or courier to the following address:

Màster d'Economia, Regulació i Competència en els Serveis Públics
Oficina de Màsters i Doctorat
Facultat d'Economia i Empresa
Universitat de Barcelona
Tinent Coronel Valenzuela, 1-11
08034 Barcelona

Once the pre-enrolment form and accompanying documentation (duly certified and legalized) have been received, the Master’s and Doctoral Office will verify that the bachelor’s degree used for the purpose of admission is equivalent to the corresponding bachelor’s degrees and pre-EHEA degrees in Spain, which grant access to official master’s degree study.

Simultaneously, the Admissions Committee will examine each candidate’s academic and professional merits and other aptitudes to determine whether they are suitable for admission. Students will only be admitted if they also meet the formal requirements for access to official master’s degree study in Spain, as verified by the Master’s and Doctoral Office.

Students whose application is approved by both the Master’s and Doctoral Office and the Admissions Committee may then complete the pre-enrolment process and reserve their place on the course.

To complete the pre-enrolment process and reserve their place, students must pay a fee of €600. This amount will be deducted from the total fee payable at the time of enrolment. The fee will not be returned to students who decide not to enrol.

Alternatively, students may choose to defer payment until the definitive enrolment fee and price per credit of the master’s degree have been announced or until they have received notification of the resolution of grants or other financial aid for which they have applied. In this case, students can complete the pre-enrolment process and reserve their place in the second pre-enrolment period, which closes on 15 June. The deadline will be extended if the definitive enrolment fee and price per credit of the master’s degree have not been announced by this date.

Students who do not make payment by the stated deadline will not be entitled to reserve a place on the course and must re-submit their pre-enrolment request in the following admissions period.

Applications from students who have requested an enrolment grant or full grant will be processed in the final admissions period, to coincide with notification of the resolution of grants or other financial aid.

The document copies must be in black and white. Color copies will not be accepted.
