Access and admission

According to Article 17 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 October, students will be able to enrol in the master's degree if they pass the assessment of established academic merits (admission requirements) for teaching among which specific prior training requirements could be specified in the field of the master's degree.

The Secretariat of Students and Teaching will take care of the candidate's compliance with the prior qualification requirements established by the Royal Decree (access requirements).

Once the two procedures have been completed, that is, the academic admission and the administrative access, the student will be able to complete his or her registration in the chosen degree.

The UB establishes the admission procedure in each of the master's degrees. This procedure includes specific criteria and merit assessment criteria, and, in certain cases, specific prior training. The admission criteria for each master's degree can be consulted on the teaching website. In all cases, effective admission depends on the assessment criteria established by the university and the master's degree.

According to Article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 October, to access the official master's degrees one of the following must be held:

  1. University degree of Spanish official degree/graduate.
Title issued by an institution of higher education of the ISS and empowering, in the country of issue, to access the official master's degree courses.
Title foreign to the ISS. In this case, the type approval is required for an official Spanish university degree. In cases that do not have the type approval, it will be necessary to check, by the UB, that these studies correspond to a level of training equivalent to Spanish official university degrees and that they are able to access official master's degree courses in the country that will issue the degree. Acceptance of an official master's degree does not imply, in any case, the approval of the previous degree or its recognition for a purpose other than that of taking master's degree courses.

To access an official master's degree from the Faculty of Philology and Communication, pre-enrolment must be done online, and the selection process must begin.
