Published on 14 February, 2021

During the first semester of the 2020-21 academic year, despite the forced adaptation to virtual teaching due to the health crisis, students of the Degree in Communication and Cultural Industries and the Master’s Degree in Specialized Communication have been able to enjoy lectures and master classes from professionals who have transmitted new points of view through their experience.

On October 27, in the framework of the subject “Sports Communication”, taught by Professor Núria Casas, Andreu Juanola, presenter and member of the Internet show “La Sotana”, payed a virtual visit to the Faculty of Philology and Communication. During the meeting, Juanola explained his origins as a communicator, and gave his opinion on current issues such as censorship, the limits of humor and the emergence of digital journalism.

In addition, on October 29, the inaugural conference of the Master’s Degree in Specialized Communication took place. It was held by Dr. Bonaventura Clotet, head of the Infectious Diseases Unit of the Trias i Pujol Hospital, director of the IsriCaixa AIDS Research Institute, president of the Lluita contra la Sida foundation and co-director of HIVACAT, a Catalan program for the development of an effective vaccine against HIV. The lecture, titled “Let’s rethink Covid-19″, revolved around the politic and media treatment of the health crisis.

And on November 4, within the framework of the subject Genres and Formats of Written Communication, taught by professors Clàudia Pons-Moll and Núria Alturo, the young designer Irene Figueres gave a master class on layout and Adobe InDesign. During the session, she reviewed some formal and stylistic resources that must be taken into account when beginning the design of a poster or a triptych. She also showed how the InDesign program works step by step, and explained its main features.
