Doctoral programmes
Third cycle studies currently focus on the preparation of a doctoral thesis (original work of research), in parallel with the development and registration of other training activities that are not necessarily structured in ECTS credits and that include both cross-disciplinary and specific training within the field of each programme.
In 2012, the Doctoral School of the University of Barcelona (EDUB) was created, which aims to organize the training and professional development of doctoral students, within the framework of the University's scientific policies. In this sense, the School offers researchers who are being trained an interdisciplinary culture connected to a coherent scientific project that is organized within the framework of doctoral programmes.
