The CLiC research group will take part in the WSIS, the UN’s international summit on the information society.
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is an event organized by leading UN agencies (such as ITU, UNICEF, UNESCO, among others) aimed at ensuring global digital cooperation to build inclusive, people-centered, and development-oriented information and knowledge societies.
At this year’s edition, which will take place from July 7 to 11 in Geneva, the CLiC research group will participate. Their presence is part of the AccessCat Network, a research results transfer network funded by AGAUR and the first RDI network in Social Sciences and Humanities supported by the Government of Catalonia.
Dr. Mireia Farrús, researcher in the CLiC group and recently appointed academic secretary of the Faculty, will be one of the featured speakers in the session titled “Media and Education for All: Bridging Female Academic Leaders and Society towards Impactful Results.”
This roundtable will explore female leadership in research through media- and education-related projects that contribute to building an inclusive society aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). CLiC’s participation will mainly focus on the SCRIBAL technology, a tool designed to support automatic subtitling for students with specific learning needs and to promote the use of minoritized languages.
The session will take place on Monday, July 7, from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. More information and registration for the online session *.
In addition to the talk, the CLiC group will be present at the AccessCat Network booth, where they will demonstrate their technology and share their research in an international space attended by governments, policymakers, and global institutions.
* You will receive an email with access to a virtual portal to follow the session. The link (Session 229, Room F) will open 30 minutes before it begins.
