Mike Nitsch

Originally starting a career in gastronomy and event management, Mike decided to change paths in his mid-twenties and began pursuing academic studies. He completed a B.Sc. in Biology at Humboldt University in Berlin and continued with an M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Münster. Currently, he is writing his Master’s thesis at the University of Barcelona, focusing on PROTACs that degrade Cyclin E or c-Myc.
In addition to his studies, Mike worked for 1.5 years at the Institute of Medical Microbiology at the University Hospital Münster. During this time, he contributed to a project investigating the anti-inflammatory responses of Staphylococcus strains in human blood under the supervision of Dr. Min-Thu Nguyen. Through this work, he gained experience in techniques such as ELISA, qPCR, invasion assays, and isolating PBMCs and monocytes. He also completed an internship in tumor orthopedics at the University Hospital Münster, participating in a project to develop a shockwave-activated silver nitrate coating for tumor proteases, guided by Dr. Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Martin Schulze.
