On Abril 25th, 2018, Juan Pablo Díaz Sánchez defended his doctoral thesis titled "Three Empirical Essays on Fecundity, Household Overcrowding and its Effects. The Case of Ecuador",” supervised by Dr. Javier Manuel Romaní Fernández.

The doctoral committee was composed of Dr. Raúl Ramos Lobo (University of Barcelona ), Dr. Manuel Casado Díaz (University of Alicante) and Dr. Adelaida Lillo Bañuls (University of Alicante) who decided to grade the PhD thesis with an “Excellent” mark.

This doctoral thesis studies residential overcrowding in Ecuador, its causes and its effects on families living under this situation.
