Background

CEREMET (Centre de Recerca en Metabolisme) is part of the Lipid Metabolism Research Group of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine of the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Biology.

The group was founded by Professor Miquel Llobera Sande and has been certified as a Consolidated Research Group by the University of Barcelona since 1996 and by the Generalitat de Catalunya since 1998.

We have been actively working in the field of biochemistry for over 30 years.

The group’s research projects focus on the study of lipid metabolism and obesity, as well as the study of apolipoprotein AIV as a potential biomarker of intestinal mucous functionality in a variety of physio-pathological situations.

As a result of its activity, the group has published more than 150 research articles in international journals and has been part of numerous scientific congresses.

The group receives funds from the Spanish Government, from the Generalitat de Catalunya and from the University of Barcelona.

CEREMET was founded in 2003 to promote the transfer of scientific knowledge to biomedical companies with the mediation and support of the Fundació Bosch i Gimpera, the technology transfer office of the University of Barcelona.

Since 2010, all our research has been conducted under a certified quality management system, based on the UNE-EN ISO 9001 standard, and since 2021 we have the certificate of fulfillment of Good Laboratory Practice Principles (GLP) for non-clinical syudies in vivo.
