F. Xavier Sans Serra, director of the new Institute for Biodiversity Research (IRBIO) of the Univers

F. Xavier Sans Serra, lecturer in the Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences and a member of the section of Botany and Mycology, has been elected as the new Director of the Research Institute of Biodiversity (IRBio) of the University of Barcelona . Yesterday, February 7, 2017 he took office in a ceremony held at the Board Room of the Rector's Historic Building.
In F. Xavier Sans, directs Ecology Research Group Agricultural Systems working on the study of the functioning of agro-systems with an interdisciplinary approach to develop indicators of environmental quality of agro-ecosystems and make proposals for design and management allow agricultural activities to reconcile the conservation of natural resources. Prior to GRC, worked in plant biology and population dynamics of weed and invasive species. He currently combines teaching and directing research group under the direction of master Organic Agriculture, proposed formative character of the UB and the Network of Excellence Agriculture, Livestock and Ecological forestry, ending by November 2017. in addition, he teaches courses in the Degrees of Biology and Environmental Sciences and the master Biodiversity Officer.
