The drought is changing ecosystems, so many animals and plants

The drought and the heat are aggravating the situation of the Mediterranean ecosystems. A team of scientists from the Institute for Research of the Biodiversity of the University of Barcelona and the Faculty of Biology has verified a great decrease in fauna, especially rosegators, due to the lack of water and the decrease in the production of fruit dels arbres, the main food of the ratolins. It has also documented a great decline of the gamarús and a decrease in the reproduction of several species.

The researchers Joan Real and Roger Puig from IRBio, indicate the importance of monitoring long termini to better understand the effects of the climate crisis in the natural park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac.
