As part of her Levelhulme Postdoctoral Fellowship, Dr. Gemma Edwards will share her current research with us. Drawing on her research project This is England: Staging Race, Class, and the English Nation from 1945 to the Present, which analyzes the changing configurations of race, class, and nation in postwar British theatre, and which proposes a deliberately delimited national analysis grounded in devolutionary (Nairn 2000; Gardiner 2013) and anticolonial perspectives (Gilroy 2013; Virdee and McGeever 2023), we are invited to a session of reflection and debate around our own research methods, which are often complex and messy.
With particular emphasis on the issues we may encounter when reflecting on our research methodologies, the second part of the seminar will encourage us to share our current methodological questions and to reflect together on how to “think against the grain.”
This event is free and open to all.
