ABOUT US

Consortium

IMCITIZEN brings together different socio-educational actors with experience in child and adolescent participation at school, local and regional levels in Spain. The consortium includes:

University of Barcelona, in Catalonia. Members of the Moral Education Research Group, the Social Pedagogy Group and the Intercultural Education Research Group

GREM, GPS and GREDI share an interest in children's participation as a right, a value and the exercise of citizenship through participatory, applied and collaborative research involving children and their environment. We build theoretical references and elements for socio-educational practice to increase the inclusion of children in decision-making spaces and the defence of their rights.

University of A Coruña, in Galicia. Members of the Educational Policy, History and Society Research Group

The research team is made up of Héctor Pose (coordinator), María Barba, as the research team, Román Suárez (working group) and Xavier Riádigos (external collaborator from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela). We have been working on this line of research in collaboration with the other universities and institutions involved in previous similar projects. We are interested in the participation of children and adolescents because it is in the orbit of our scientific and teaching concerns.

Provincial Federation of Parents' Associations of Public Schools of A Coruña, in Galicia

The Provincial Federation of Parents' Associations of Public Schools of A Coruña was legalised in 1981 from 12 associations and currently represents 178. Services: Advice to associations, training and representing them. The Federation maintains a Collaboration Agreement with the City Council of A Coruña that allows to manage the programmes SPORTS IN THE CENTRE, LEISURE-EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES and LANGUAGES PROGRAMME, addressed to the students of the Public Schools of the city and that is carried out in after-school hours.

Los Glayus Association, in the Principality of Asturias, with 27 years of experience in promoting children's participation and providing teacher training

Los Glayus Association is a non-profit legal entity dedicated to the social development of diverse people and collectives, formed by a group of professionals in the field of social intervention. Its purpose is to rebuild communities and care together for the lives and local territories we inhabit, through the development of artisan projects that facilitate the encounter and the healthy and creative development of human groups, through play, applied theatre and the participation of adults and children.

Complutense University of Madrid, in the Community of Madrid. Members of the Civic Culture and Educational Policies Research Group

Their research focuses on five areas: theory, philosophy and intellectual history of education; civic, social and occupational education; education and culture in the digital age; values pedagogy in childhood; and national and international educational policy. Its members work with national and international research networks and have promoted collaboration agreements with universities in several parts of the world. They also collaborate with the Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI) of the United Nations.

Mislata City Council and the Department of Childhood and Adolescence, in the Valencian Community

Mislata City Council: Mislata has had a Local Plan for Children and Adolescents since 2014. It is a city plan that brings together all the actions developed and aimed at children and adolescents, including municipal initiatives and those of other civil society agents. In addition, we belong to the UNICEF Child Friendly Cities Network, and we have a mention of excellence, thus recognising the relevance of our policies.
Department of Children and Adolescents: This area leads the European IMCITIZEN project, with extensive experience defending and promoting the right to child participation. We have had a children's participation body since 2013, including children from 8 to 16 years of age, who have become an active part of the city's day-to-day life.

Centro Trama Association, in Castilla-La Mancha

The Association Centro Trama is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with a fundamental goal of advocating for human rights and enhancing the quality of life for socially disadvantaged groups through comprehensive support. We have programs in childhood, adolescence, and family and initiatives focused on gender equality and combating gender-based violence. Our work extends to community development, addressing social exclusion, providing support for seniors, and tackling addiction issues.
