Step by Step

The First Step is the nomination. Your institution must nominate you through the official via. And during the open period of nomination.

Now we are open for the nominations of the second semester.

Once you are officially nominated by your institution, and you have received the confirmation of the acceptance of your nomination.

You must create the Application Form. The AF is a document where you choose the subjects you want to attend during your mobility. It is very important to follow the instructions.

Remember, you must have a B2 minimum level of Spanish language to attend to subjects outside the shortlist of recommended courses.

Important: You won't be able to change your AF once you submit the file and get the identification code of the AF.

If you need to make any changes, please write us: incoming.educacio@ub.edu

Once the AF is correctly done and signed by your institution, you (the student). You will receive an acceptance letter. This is an official resolution from the University of Barcelona that proves your acceptance officially.

The incoming students who make a temporary stay at the UB must have medical, accident, and repatriation insurance, which will cover their entire stay at the UB.

The European Health Insurance Card is for medical coverage, but not for accident and repatriation coverage.

The document must specify these coverages, and it will only be valid in Spanish, Catalan or English  (a translation by yourselves can’t be accepted).

It is compulsory a copy of your insurance for formalizing your enrollment. If we don't receive the copy of the compulsory insurance, you CANNOT ENROLL.

Medical coverage:

  • Students from countries that are members of the European Economic Area (European Union countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and who are entitled to Social Security benefits in their own country should present their European health insurance card. The form for this card is issued by your country's public health authorities and entitles you to medical care in Spain.
  • Students from countries outside the European Economic Area should establish whether there is a medical agreement between the social security system in their country and in Spain. If there is one, you should request the relevant document from the health authorities in your country. This document will entitle you to medical care in Spain.
  • Students who are not in any of the above categories will have to hire a private medical insurance that covers your stay at the University of Barcelona. You will have to request a document from your insurer, in English, Spanish or Catalan, stating such coverage.
  •

Accidents and repatriation coverage:

All students must prove an insurance that covers accidents and repatriation. It can be taken out at the home country at individual level or by the home institution. You will have to request a document from your insurer, in English, Spanish or Catalan, stating such coverage.

On your arrival at the UB, you will be requested to submit a copy of your insurance.

In any case, you have the option of purchasing one with the insurance company that has signed an agreement with the UB, if necessary.

Ferrer&Ojeda Asociados Correduría de Seguros, S.L.
