According to the rankings, the University of Barcelona is one of the most reputable European institutions, and, in addition, it is located in one of the best cities to study and live.
The Faculty of Education of the UB, as a faculty that stems from the faculties of Teacher Training and Pedagogy, has been welcoming new students to its classrooms for more than one hundred and seventy years (the Escola Normal was created in 1845). Currently, almost one thousand five hundred students enter each year to the second faculty of the University of Barcelona in terms of the number of students and teaching staff.
The faculty develops everything involved in the educational world: biology, social sciences, didactics, physical education, visual and plastic education, physics, geology, educational research, mathematics, music, first, second and third languages, chemistry, theory, and history, etc. It is like a small university, since it integrates almost all areas of knowledge in a single centre.

- We do not yet have the list of available courses for you to choose from.
- A correct nomination does not mean you have been formally accepted. Once we review the agreements between institutions, we will send you either a formal acceptance or a formal rejection from our institution.
- You will also be informed of your UB academic tutor, who will guide you through the entire process until enrollment. With your tutor, you will review the courses and make a final selection. All academic questions should be directed to your tutor.
- For administrative questions, please first consult the Incoming Students section.
Here you will find some information about the application form process:
- Look at the two available course modules, including course information and language requirements.
- Choose one module only: A or B.
- Select courses exclusively from the chosen module, keeping in mind that you must register for a minimum of 15 ECTS and a maximum of 24 ECTS. One semester is composed of 30 ECTS in total. One academic year is composed of 60 ECTS in total.
- Included within this 15–30 ECTS range are the mandatory Catalan and Spanish language courses (3 ECTS each). Therefore, you can only choose up to 24 ECTS of module-specific courses.
- You do not need to add the Catalan and Spanish courses to your online application form (Application Forms) – we will add them for you.
- Some of the credits in this range may come from curricular courses offered by other faculties. These courses must not exceed 40% of your total credit load (meaning you may choose a maximum of 1–2 courses from other faculties).
- Courses from other faculties are not listed in this document, as we only manage those offered by the Faculty of Education.
- Prior authorization from the corresponding faculties is required in order to officially enrol you. The International Office will manage these requests. However, please note that most applications have been rejected in recent years due to a lack of available places.
- In case of needing academic guidance and suport, we recommend you to contact your international tutor assigned at your faculty.
Indicate the course codes and names in your online application. After the course name, include the module in parentheses. For example:
“361127 Foreign Language for Teaching Purposes: English (B)”.
If you don't have enough space to write, don't worry, the important information is THE CODE, and then leave the description as much as you can.
• Please note: Any application that includes courses from more than one module will not be accepted.
- Erasmus Friendly are subjects in Spanish that, due to their typology, are easy to understand and follow. They are recognized as Erasmus-friendly because they adapt to the possible needs of international students, such as providing informative support in English.
- MODIFICATIONS TO YOUR APPLICATION FORM: In case you need to modify your application form, you can write us to manage with the international administrative support. Send the new list to incoming.educacio@ub.edu and we will modify it for you.
- Remember to follow the especific instruccions on the short list.
- One-year course involving working from home in the second semester: This means that you will have to work from home and present a final project. There aren't online classes, just the guidance of your tutor.
OLS or online tests will not be accepted for language accreditation. ( Mandatory: English Certificate B2 or Spanish Certificate B2*)
Remember: * Spanish Certificate B2: Only for Students who want to choose courses taught in Spanish out of the offer from the Shortlist of recommended courses that we will send you in mid-May. These students can send us the Application Form duly completed along with other document requested.

If you have made any changes or modifications to the subjects you are enrolled in during your mobility period, it is essential that you speak directly with your academic tutor.
She is the only person authorized to supervise and validate these changes. Is your international tutor asigned.
The tutor is the only one that can contact us to request any updates to your official enrollment.
Please note that you will not find any subject on the Virtual Campus that is not officially included in your enrollment at the Faculty of Education.
It is crucial that any modifications are handled through your academic tutor.
Remember, Modifications in the enrollment means: Modifications in your OLA, Online Learning Agreement.
The OLA submit at the EWP must reflect your final subject selection, which must match your official enrollment — including language courses. Or APS (in case you have elected)
The Online Learning Agreement (OLA) is a mandatory document generated by the student through the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) platform.
It serves as the official contract between the student and the participating institutions during the mobility period.
It is essential that the OLA accurately reflects the final list of subjects the student will take during their mobility. These subjects must match exactly the courses officially enrolled in at the Faculty of Education.
If any changes are needed after the initial submission, the Faculty will return the OLA (sedn us an email ) to the student for modification. The student must then resubmit the updated version for review. The OLA will only be accepted if the final list of subjects corresponds precisely to the official enrollment.
Please note:
- Language courses (each worth 3 ECTS) and APS (Applied Social Projects) must also be included in the OLA if selected.
- These courses do not have a subject code, but they must be listed in the OLA to ensure they are recognized in the Transcript of Records upon completion of the mobility.
Accurate completion of the OLA is crucial for the academic recognition of all subjects and credits taken at our Faculty.
- The University of Barcelona is the most formidable public institution of higher education in Catalonia, catering to the needs of the greatest number of students and delivering the broadest offering in higher educational courses. The UB is also the principal center of university research in Spain and has become a European benchmark for research activity.
Its history closely tied to the history of Barcelona and of Catalonia, our university combines the values of tradition with its position as an institution dedicated to innovation and teaching excellence: a university that is as outward-looking and cosmopolitan as the city from which it takes its name. And because of this, it plays a direct and active part in the urban fabric of Barcelona, becoming a hub of cultural activity for the city itself.
- The UB campuses are spread out across the entire inner-city area, thus fostering a series of close ties between the institution of our university and the city around us. These ties contribute to the human and cultural environment present in certain parts of Barcelona and enable members of the university community to enjoy both the city’s services and those of the UB.
- The University of Barcelona occupies a competitive position at national, European and worldwide levels in the most important ranking tables designed on a range of variables within different geographical areas. The QS World University Ranking 2021 ranked the University of Barcelona number 183 among all the universities in the world, being classified the first one among the Spanish universities.
- The University of Barcelona was founded in 1450; it is the oldest university in Catalonia and one of the oldest in Spain. The UB is implicitly linked to the history of Barcelona and Catalonia and combines its historical dimension with its status as a leading, innovative educational institution. Its work contributes to the creation, transmission and diffusion of culture and of scientific, technical and professional knowledge, as well as promoting critical thought, freedom and pluralism.
INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION
The individual application method allows you to carry out an exchange at any university in the world, even if neither we as a faculty nor the University of Barcelona have signed any student exchange agreement with them. The individual application method is not part of the UB's international mobility programs, which is why it does not share all the characteristics of these programs. The most notable difference is that carrying out an exchange under this method does not exempt you from paying fees at the foreign university.
Until the opening of the next submission deadline, the information on the procedure for the previous year can serve as a reference.
Consult the call for applications and all the information on the Erasmus+ internship mobility program for the 2025-26 academic year at the following links:
2025-26:
Call for applications Individual application
Call for applications and information portal Individual application
If the call has already closed, the information available on the previous call, until the new one opens, can serve as a guide. All information is updated as soon as the call opens: deadlines, requirements, documentation and processing of the application and offer of places.
The call usually opens around October of each academic year for first-semester, second-semester and annual mobilities of the following academic year.
How it works:
If you want to carry out international mobility through the individual applicant modality, you must take into account the following information:
• You must be accepted by the foreign university: To submit an application as an individual applicant to the foreign university where you are interested in carrying out an exchange, you must contact its International Relations Office and ask them for all the information regarding acceptance at their center. You must indicate that you want to apply for mobility at their center as an individual applicant (“free mover” or “individual applicant”). There may be universities that do not contemplate this type of modality, but in any case, it will be the foreign university that must inform you about acceptance at its center under this modality.
• The application must be submitted to the UB in accordance with the established deadlines and requirements: The mobility must be applied for under the individual application modality also to the UB, in accordance with the Individual Application procedure and the mobility must also be granted by the UB. If you are interested in carrying out a mobility of this type, carefully read all the information available in relation to the procedure to ensure that you have all the documentation you will need to submit the application within the established deadlines. The calendars are similar to those of the ordinary call, but there is usually also a second call for second semester stays.
• Eligible universities: You cannot request this type of mobility with those universities with which the UB has signed agreements for the exchange of students that you could benefit from. You will only be able to go on exchange to a specific foreign university through this modality if you cannot do so through one of the UB's international mobility programs.
• Academic recognition: If you decide to do an exchange abroad under this modality, remember that in order to recognize the subjects and courses that you will take at your destination university, all the procedures must be carried out a priori, that is, before your stay at the foreign university. Therefore, it is essential that you make sure that you follow all the relevant procedures to do so within the established deadlines.
As soon as your mobility has been accepted by the foreign university and the UB, you must contact the Faculty's international relations office so that we can carry out the academic management of your exchange. From there, we will assign you an international tutor and you will carry out the different procedures associated with academic recognition in the same way as the rest of the students participating in international mobility programs.
Remember that all the procedures for the recognition of the courses you will take abroad must be carried out in advance, before the start of your stay, otherwise you will not be able to recognize the courses taken.
