Objectives

The UB bachelor's degree in Catalan trains professionals and researchers highly qualified in the field of Catalan language and literature. More specifically, this degree develops expert knowledge, competences and skills in:

  • The structure of the Catalan language and its historical and current varieties.
  • Catalan literature: texts, authors and major currents.
  • Regulations and standard language and theoretical bases.
  • Professional applications of language and literature.
  • History of the Catalan language and its literature.
  • The sociolinguistic situation of the Catalan language and intervention methods.

Competences

General competences

  • Communicative ability (the ability to understand and express oneself orally and in writing in Catalan, Spanish, and a third language, mastering specialised language/the ability to search, use, disseminate, and integrate information).
  • Mastery of new information and communication technologies and information management skills.
  • Ethical commitment (critical and self-critical capacity/ability to demonstrate attitudes consistent with ethical and deontological conceptions).
  • Teamwork (the ability to collaborate with fellow colleagues and contribute to a common project/ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary and multicultural teams).
