#CICEvents | Virtual master class with Joan Marimón (03/12/2020)

Published on 3 December, 2020

Last Thursday, December 3, filmmaker and screenwriter Joan Marimón, author, among others, of the book “El montaje cinematográfico. Del guion a la pantalla” (Edicions UB), paid a virtual visit to the students of the Degree in Communication and Cultural Industries, within the framework of the subject “Audiovisual Communication”, taught by Dr. Juanjo Caballero.

The master class was entitled “The montage, origin of the vocation of the audiovisual student?”. Taking this possible premise, Marimón highlighted the importance of editing as a process that is present throughout the entire production of a film and that, in fact, begins with the writing of the script.

Marimón also explained the difference between internal editing, which is made by the camera itself, and external editing, which is made during post-production. And he spoke of the counterpoint concept, introduced by the Soviet filmmakers Eisenstein, Pudovkin and Aleksándrov; both the one that is articulated with images and the one that works by the contrast between images and sound.
