Dr Alejandra Rodríguez

Post-doctoral Researcher
University of Barcelona

Dr Alejandra Rodríguez-Gimeno obtained her PhD in Organic Chemistry at University of Valencia. When she finished her PhD, she moved to an industrial environment where she developed her interest in Medicinal Chemistry working first in Janssen with a postdoctoral fellowship and then in Villapharma Research. In 2016, she joined Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Genova, Italy) working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Medicinal Chemistry. During those years, she worked on the design and optimization from hit-to-lead to lead optimization, analysis and interpretation of SAR, PK, ADME, and physicochemical properties of the synthetised compounds. She also participated in the compound selection to preclinical development phase. In 2020, she started to work as a Project Leader in Medicinal Chemistry at Oryzon Genomics, a biopharmaceutical company developing epigenetic personalized medicines for patients with cancer and CNS disorders. In 2021, she was awarded with a Postdoctoral fellowship funded by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and European Union “NextGenerationEU”. Recently, she joined Galdeano’s Lab to develop new skills on targeted protein degradation strategy through a multidisciplinary project combining biophysics, computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry and cell biology.
