Objectives
 

Through the exploration (case-studies and participatory design sessions) of three public spaces developing learning activities for adults and youths, La Piazza specifically aims to:

  • Explore the issue of intergenerational learning mediated by technologies in social spaces.
  • Progress in the definition of a model for intergenerational learning scenarios in public social spaces, enriched by different technology tools and interfaces supporting different expressive languages, cognitive and societal competences.
  • Set scientifically and socially sound basis to generate models for the co-design of architecturally interesting social spaces in which technologies are ecologically integrated and where roles of adults and youngsters are defined to support a mutual, socially-rewarding learning experience

The exploration of these scenarios aims at setting the basis for building a comprehensive research roadmap on how, under what conditions and with what social benefits, technology enhanced public spaces can effectively and meaningfully support intergenerational learning. It will also allow to elaborate co-design and validation methodologies adapted to the specific context of technology enhanced public spaces for intergenerational learning.
