Alvaro Mozota Frauca (0000-0002-7715-0563) - ORCID

Álvaro Mozota Frauca is an Assistant Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain), where he carries out his research in the foundations of spacetime theories and of quantum gravity.

Álvaro has a mixed background in physics and philosophy. He has a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Theoretical Physics (from the University of Barcelona and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (Canada)) and a Master's degree in Philosophy of Physics (University of Oxford (UK)). He joined Logos for his PhD, while also being a member of the Proteus project at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In his PhD thesis, he analyzed different approaches to quantum gravity. While the mainstream interpretation of these approaches is that they describe a fundamentally spacetimeless world, Álvaro argued that some quantization techniques fail at the time of quantizing general relativity, and that they fail to give us satisfactory theories of quantum gravity.

After his PhD, he joined the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where he keeps working on topics related to spacetime, general relativity, cosmology, and quantum gravity.
