Conversational Dynamics and Centered Content (CDCC)

This reading group investigates how information is exchanged in conversation with a focus on self-locating or centered content. What kinds of assertions (if any) involve centered content? What role do semantic and pragmatic features play in the exchange of centered content? What is the best framework for such information exhange?

First we will look at classic papers relevant to the topic and then we will read recent and unpublished papers. The reading list may include papers by Gottlob Frege, Robert Stalnaker, David Lewis, Clas Weber, Isidora Stojanovic, John Pollock, Andy Egan, James Higginbotham, Sarah Moss, Dilip Ninan, Jason Stanley, Pranav Anand, François Recanati, Tamina Stephenson and Seth Yalcin.
