The microbiologist Ricard Guerrero receives the international GlaxoSmithKline Award

Ricard Guerrero, Emeritus Professor from the Department of Pathology and Experimental Therapy of the Faculty of Medicine, former scientific secretary of the Institute for Catalan Studies (IEC)and member of the Research Biodiverity Institute of UB (IRBio), has received the prestigious GlaxoSmithKline Award (International Member of the Year Award). Every year, the award, sponsored by the pharmaceutical company and conferred by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), honours leading international microbiologists who have contributed in an outstanding way to the development of microbiology in important fields such as education, communication and research. Professor Guerrero receives the award on the next annual meeting of the ASM, which takes place in New Orleans (Louisiana, United States) from 30 May to 2 June 2015.
