This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, and protected in connection with the International Workshop on Microwave Research and Applications (hereinafter, "the Workshop"), in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 on Personal Data Protection (LOPDGDD).

The Workshop is organized by a group of researchers affiliated with the Universitat de Barcelona, acting in their personal academic capacity and not on behalf of the institution as a whole.

4. Data Retention
Personal data will be retained for the period strictly necessary to fulfil the purposes described above, and in any case for a minimum of 6 years from the date of collection, in compliance with Spanish accounting and fiscal legislation (Article 30 of the Spanish Commercial Code).
Data processed solely on the basis of consent (e.g., for future editions) will be retained until the participant withdraws their consent.
5. Data Processors and Third-Party Services
Personal data is not sold, rented, or disclosed to third parties for commercial purposes.
The following third-party service provider acts as a data processor on behalf of the Workshop:
- PaynoPain — payment processing platform used for card payments. PaynoPain processes payment data (card details) directly and in accordance with PCI-DSS standards. The Workshop does not store or have access to participants' card data. For more information, please refer to PaynoPain's privacy policy.
Website access logs may be stored on the servers of the Universitat de Barcelona, which acts as hosting provider.
6. International Data Transfers
No international transfers of personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA) are carried out by the Workshop organizers.
Third-party services integrated into the website (such as Google Fonts) may involve transfers to servers located outside the EEA. Such transfers are covered by the respective providers' compliance with applicable data protection frameworks.
7. Participants' Rights
Under the GDPR, participants have the right to:
- Access their personal data held by the Workshop
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase their data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention obligations
- Restrict the processing of their data in certain circumstances
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Data portability where processing is based on consent or contract

8. Security
The Workshop organizers implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure, in accordance with Article 32 GDPR.
However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Participants submit their data at their own risk.
9. Changes to this Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Any significant changes will be communicated via the workshop website. The date of the last update is indicated at the top of this page.
