The 8.2 million euros raised by La Marató 2023 will help to promote 26 research projects on sexual and reproductive health led by 52 teams. These resources will be decisive in the coming years to find more answers to problems that affect three million people only in Catalonia, with 211,000 new cases each year, especially among women and young people. Out of the projects that were funded, ten are unitary and sixteen are coordinated between two or more research centres.
Journalist Alba Riera hosted the presentation of these economic aids on Thursday 21 November. The ceremony was led by Carme Figueras, director of the CCMA 3Cat and vice-president of the board of trustees of the La Marató de 3Cat Foundation, and Lluís Bernabé, director of the Foundation.
