The behavior is one of the mechanisms that allow organisms to adapt to environmental changes or new environments. This situation can lead to new selective pressures to which organisms can evolve. This interaction ecology, behavior and selection form the guideline of the group. The study methodology comes from different disciplines such as behavior, ecology, morphology, phylogeny and genetics. Some of the studies have an impact on current problems of biodiversity conservation, such as those caused by invasive species by habitat fragmentation by urban environments, or by ecotourism and hunting activity.

Agroecology, plant biodiversity, organic farming plant invasions. Agricultural intensification negatively affects the conservation of natural resources and maintain functions ecosistèmiques (eg soil fertility, pollination and crop protection) of agricultural systems. For this reason, it is essential to develop sustainable management methods that reduce environmental stress associated with agricultural activities and promote the proper functioning of agricultural systems. The team working on the analysis of the functioning of agricultural systems and the design of sustainable management models in order to provide scientific and technical knowledge that allows farmers to better manage and evaluate these improvements by using of sustainability indicators easy to understand and use.

My research is focused in the study of the conservation status of the white gorgonian, Eunicella singularis, the only mixotroph gorgonian in the Mediterranean Sea. The main objective is to understand how the species responds to global change and to evaluate if any advantages exist in symbiotic species under global change in temperate seas using ecological, population, genetic, reproductive and ecophysiological approaches.

I work in eco-epidemiological research that allow knowing which are the reservoirs, the vector species and the key factors driving the spread of viruses. These factors are very important in order to find preventive measures that reduce the risk of transmission to the human population, livestock and pets. The emergence of a viral epidemic depends on the dynamics of the virus, which in turn will be influenced by reservoir dynamic and external environmental factors such as temperature, rainfall, degree of habitat conservation, the situation of stress affecting the reservoir species.

I am an evolutionary biologist studying the evolution of phenotypic traits, with a particular focus on functional and morphological sexual dimorphism. My research aims to understand the causes of sex-specific differentiation and how it occurs across scales, from the micro- to the macro-level, often using lizards as a model system.

The conservation and management of temporary rivers (that is, those in which surface flow ceases at some point in time and in space) is very necessary, especially in the context of global change. This, in addition to the impacts of anthropic origin, is increasing the incidence of these rivers in many regions, and especially in temperate and arid climates. That is why I am currently working in the Mediterranean climate region of the Iberian Peninsula studying the hydrology and ecology of temporary rivers.

My research activity focuses on the study of the ecology and conservation of nocturnal raptors, specifically the common eagle owl (Bubo bubo) in humanized areas. I am interested in the role that second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs), as well as different trophic resources, play in the survival, landscape use and movement patterns of the common eagle owl in a highly anthropized environment of the NE Iberian Peninsula.

My current postdoctoral project focuses on understanding brain remodeling in the mayfly Cloeon dipterum during sexual differentiation and the transition from the aquatic to the aerial phase. I am also deeply interested in the evolution of sex determination systems and their genomic consequences.
