What is it

Lletra de Dona, coordinated by Rodrigo Andrés, Dolores Resano and Andrea Ruthven, and edited by Sara Soler, is a space for the publication and dissemination of reviews of works written by women, within the fields of both literary creation (fiction, drama, poetry, essay, autobiography) as well as critical theory.

The objective of Lletra de Dona is, therefore, to make visible the contribution of women and offer a repertoire of their works, both throughout history and today. 

Lletra de Dona was created by Elena Losada in 2004 and coordinated by herself and by Helena González and Marta Segarra until 2014. It has been previously edited by Dolores Resano, David Fontanals, Marina Bernardo and Arturo Corujo. From 2008 to 2014 it was linked to three teaching innovation projects: "Lletra de Dona: A tool for learning literary criticism in virtual environments and for continuous assessment", "Development of Lletra de Dona as an interdisciplinary tool for continuous assessment and critical learning in virtual environments", and "Gender in the assessment of competences in the Humanities: complements to Lletra de Dona" (Institut de Ciències de l'Educació, Universitat de Barcelona).

Proposals

Lletra de Dona accepts proposals throughout the year. You can send your reviews to adhuc@ub.edu writing "Lletra de Dona" as the subject of the email. The review, in Word format, must be attached. The coordination team will assess the proposals for publication.

The reviews may be written in Catalan, Spanish or English. Reviews of works that have been already reviewed in Lletra de Dona are not accepted, so reviewers are kindly requested to consult the list of reviews available on the website first. Only full volume reviews are accepted, not volume sections.

  6. Review. It should not include literal quotes from the reviewed work except in exceptional cases and the exact page should be referenced. Between 2000-3000 characters with spaces.
  7. Optional sections
    1. Autopoetics. 650 characters with spaces max. Under this denomination, relevant statements by the author may be included (in prologues, interviews, footnotes, etc.) in which she expresses her views on the act of writing (for example, what she thinks of women's literature).
    2. Translations. In the case of working with a translated work, an assessment of the translation may be included.
    3. Critical bibliography (four titles max). The bibliography must be included in alphabetical order. References should be cited as indicated below:
