Resum:
Marta Torres is one of the few world's specialists in the study of cold seepage at convergent and transform margins through geochemical investigations of gas hydrate dynamics; geochemical tracers for fluid flow, transport mechanisms and fluid provenance in continental margins, analytical geochemistry of sediments and pore fluids. She uses the technique of laser ablation ICPMS of foraminifera and clam shells to reconstruct past episodes of fluid flow and the role of microbial communities in early diagenetic processes. The conference will provided summary of the state of the art on gas hydrate research using the recent-most information gathered through scientific drilling at Hydrate Ridge, Oregon continental margin.
