Bank institutions that collaborate with the UB are Banco Santander, BBVA and CaixaBank. The payment of the enrolment can be done:

  • by a single invoice
  • by a single payment by direct debit
  • in installments
  • in installments with a loan of fractional enrolment payment (PFM) of the Agency for University and Research Grants (Agència d'Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR))

The total payment of the registration fee is a compulsory requirement for it in order to be valid. If it is paid in installments, the payment obligation will be considered finished when all payments have been made.

The non-payment of the enrolment or any of its payment fractions within the terms established by the University will result in the automatic temporary suspension of the rights of the student without the need of previous request of the University of Barcelona. The maximum length of time of the temporary suspension goes until the end of the academic year.

The temporary suspension of the rights of the student will be over when the student pays to the University, in cash and at once, the total amount of the pending registration payment. The enrolment is the annual administrative act thanks to which an agreement between the student and the University is formalised in order to do an academic activity. Admission to a doctoral programme of the University of Barcelona is formalised by the academic tutorship enrolment. Moreover, accepted candidates of a doctoral programme of the University of Barcelona have to do the enrolment of the academic tutorship every academic year.

Face-to-face enrolment

If this year you have had access to the doctoral programme, you have to do the enrolment at the secretary for students and teaching of the centre that it is specified in the resolution document of admission. If this academic year you go on with your doctoral studies in the programme where you have started, you have to formalise the academic tutorship enrolment at the secretary for students and teaching of the centre that is responsible for the management of your enrolment or at the newly assigned centre.

If you are a student with a previous foreign qualification, it is compulsory that the academic documents have to be legalised and accompanied by the official Catalan or Spanish translation when they are not written in one of these languages or in English. Remember that if you need more information about the enrolment you can check the Doctorate section of the UB website or contact the secretary for students and teaching of the centre where you did the registration of the doctorate. 

The price of the enrolment is annually established by the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya in the Public Price Decree, which fixes the prices of academic services in public universities of Catalonia.

The enrolment includes the price of the thesis tutorship (direction, tutelage and continuous evaluation of the doctoral thesis), the price of academic records management, the price of the specific and support services for learning, and the price of the school insurance, if applicable. It also includes the price of the extra-academic services that you have requested.

In the Price Decree you can find all situations and cases that may result in a discount on the price of enrolment. In order to formalise the enrolment with discount it is compulsory to submit the hard copy and a copy of the documents showing the established cases in accordance with the instructions that you can find here: www.ub.edu/acad/noracad/matricula/welcome.html 

If you are a student of new access to a doctorate programme, you have to have the authorisation of access and the admission to the doctoral programme. The documents that you have to provide are included in the application document of access and admission to the doctoral programmes. It is important to specify your address during the course so that we can contact you while you are studying.

The submission of the required documentation is a compulsory condition in order to manage the academic records, to formalise a new enrolment or modify it, or to request any academic service (certificates, degrees, changes of studies, etc.).

If you are a doctoral student who goes on in the programme that you previously started, these are the academic requirements:

  • To have the research plan accepted (formerly called Thesis project) or be within the period of time given by the Academic Commission of the programme for the acceptance of the new research plan (in the event that the plan was not previously accepted) if you are in the second academic year of the programme.

To have a positive evaluation of the advances of the research plan and the activities document of the previous course before the enrolment or, in case of having a negative evaluation, to be within the period of time given by the Academic Commission of the programme in order to request the acceptance of the new research plan. It is important to specify your address during the course so that we can contact you while you are studying.
