Round table participants “Models and knowledge theories about education in our world” – #IRED19

The 1st International Conference on Research in Education is approaching and over the next few weeks we will be announcing the participants of the round tables that will take place throughout.

On this occasion we introduce you to Dr. Zvi Bekerman, rapporteur of the table, and to the speakers Dr. José Luís Medina, Dr. Miguel Zapata-Ros and Dr. Àlex Egea.

Dr. Zvi Bekerman teaches anthropology of education at the Faculty of Education of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is a member of the Harry Research Institute. S. Truman for the Advancement of Peace in the same university. His main interests are the study of cultural, ethnic and national identity, including identity processes and negotiation in intercultural meetings and in formal and informal teaching contexts. He is especially interested in issues related to social justice, intercultural education and for peace and in citizenship education. He has published numerous articles and is the founding editor of Diaspora, Indigenous, and Minority Education: An International Journal.

Dr. José Luís Medina is Professor of the Department of Didactics and Educational Organization of the University of Barcelona. Bachelor of Pedagogy and Doctor of Philosophy and Education Sciences. He has completed complementary training in the United States as “Visiting Scholar” in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at Teachers College at Columbia University (New York), where he completed his doctoral thesis. He has developed his teaching and research work in the fields of teacher training, higher education, qualitative research and teaching methodology. He has published numerous books and articles and has participated as a European consultant in international Ibero-American cooperation projects in education and teacher training in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Republic Dominican.

Dr. Miguel Zapata-Ros is an Honorary Professor at the Center for Training and Professional Development of the University of Murcia, a researcher at the Interuniversity Institute of International Economics and External Professor at the University of Alcalá de Henares. In addition, he is a member of doctoral programs in Information and Knowledge Engineering, distinguished with Mention for Excellence by the Ministry of Education (Reference: MEE2011-0159) and editor of RED, Journal of Distance Education and University Teaching. He is also a member of INTCODE, a UN advisory agency on distance education, and a representative at the New York headquarters.

Dr. Àlex Egea is Professor at the University of Barcelona and founder and advisor of Sinèrgies Pedagògiques. His specialties are education in values, education for citizenship, education for development, technology applied to education, basic skills, curriculum and theory of education. He has a degree in pedagogy and a master’s degree in Education in Values ​​and for Citizenship. He is currently a pedagogical coordinator of the master’s degree in Education, Globalization and Social Transformation at the University of Barcelona.
