Miquel Bota (Stanford University), who specializes in comparative literature and cultural studies, will give the lecture "Machado de Assis. Carne de tu carne", coorganized by Estudis Gallecs i Portuguesos, the Centre Dona i Literatura and the Centro Cultural do Brasil em Barcelona. Bota will offer a reading of the ouvre of Machado de Assis in which he analyzes the evidence of a critique of patriarchy and the crisis of masculinity in Brazil's fin-de-siècle. The lecture will be in Spanish. Attendance is free.
