Call for Papers

The Call for Papers for the International Conference "Auto/Biographies of Defectors and Pariahs in Latin America and Spain. 20th-21st Centuries", which will take place in Warsaw, is published. This conference aims to reflect on the auto biographical stories on defectors (Martine Leivobici) and pàries (Hannah Arendt) as acts of narrative subjectivation in which lives, bodies, and affects come together. The figures proposed by political theory will be analyzed in autobiographical, literary, and audiovisual texts in relation with theories on gender, sexuality, and emotions, mapping how auto/biographical discourses codify and question both normativity and positions of exclusion This conference is co-organized by ADHUC—Research Centre for Theory, Gender, Sexuality, together with the research groups GENIA (Uniwersytet Warszawski), Body and Textuality (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), Institut für Romanische Sprachen und Literaturen (Goethe-Universität Frankfurt with Main), and the Center for Galician Studies of U. Warszawski. This conference is the result of the project "Female Defectors and Modern Pariahs: Gender and Exclusion in Twenty-First Popular Culture "(FEM2017-83974- / P MINECO / AEI / ERDF, EU)
