Rosa Mentxaka Elexpe will give a lecture entitled "Pena de muerte y mujer embarazada: un binomio de larga tradición histórica", in which she will reflect on the impact of the law in the lives of women. Mentxaka is Full Professor of Roman Law at the Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) with a long research history in the fields of public and private Roman law. In recent years she has been working on the behavior of Christians when faced with compulsory military service and the obligation of pledging allegiance to the gods who protected the state, as well as questions related to the suicide of military personnel, and also on female Christian martyrs. She is currently a researcher with the project "Las mujeres y la práctica jurídica en el Imperio romano". This lecture has been organized by Tàcita Muta (Grup d'Estudis de Dones i Gènere a l'Antiguitat) of the GRC Creació i pensament de les dones.
