The Seminari Filosofia i Gènere—ADHUC holds the 25th Thesis Laboratory. In this new session, PhD candidate Irene Cruz Pereira (FI-DGR 2017) will present her ongoing research for her doctoral dissertation, Heroínas del feminismo popular: Autoría y ocupación de espacios masculinos en Hollywood and supervised by Katarzyna Paszkiewicz. Cruz Pereiza analyzes the way in which both feminine characters and women creators have occupied spaces culturally considered to be masculine in several recent movies –Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), Star Wars: El despertar de la Fuerza (2015), Wonder Woman (2017). By studying the ways, and the results, in which heroines and women creators have occupied these spaces, her thesis poses a reflection on the relations between these movies’ polemic reception and the types of feminism that are introduced into contemporary popular culture.
