Workshop in Memory of Xavier Raurich
On February 11 and 12, 2027, CREB (Centre de Recerca en Economia del Benestar) will organize a workshop in memory of our colleague and friend Xavier Raurich, who sadly passed away on July 7, 2026.
Xavier was a much-loved member of the Economic Theory Section, the Department of Economics, and our Faculty as a whole. He was a highly respected scholar whose research made important contributions to macroeconomics, economic growth, inequality, and related fields. Throughout his academic career, he also played an important role in the improvement, modernization, and internationalization of our Faculty, as well as in promoting economic research. His intellectual generosity and dedication left a lasting impact on his co-authors, students, and colleagues.
The workshop will take place at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitat de Barcelona, and will bring together Xavier’s co-authors, former students, colleagues, and other researchers for a series of presentations covering the different areas of economics in which he worked. The workshop will conclude with a roundtable devoted to his research and his impact as a colleague, teacher, and mentor.
