Modular program
in social skills
for positive conflict resolution
We present the continuity of a first research carried out in 2013 of an evaluative nature with the aim of elaborating and validating a program of competencies
social services for minors / young people who are on probation and socio-educational tasks.
With this new research, an innovative and pedagogical research is proposed that allows to elaborate a modular program that responds to the detected needs and to the reality to which it is destined, combining
individual and group sessions, and pedagogical-formative orientations
for its application.
Methodology
The work plan conforms to a participatory model of innovation and research.
The project presents the proposal of a modular program. This modular social skills program for conflict resolution consists of 3 modules:
1. Interaction Module
(5 group sessions + 5 individual sessions)
2. Cognitive Module
(5 group sessions + 5 individual sessions)
3. Emotional Module
(5 group sessions + 5 individual sessions)
The modules are independent of each other and pursue their own goals. Each module consists of 5 group sessions that alternate with 5 individual sessions. Therefore, the total duration of each of the modules is 10 sessions; and the maximum duration of the program is a total of 30 sessions (15 group and 15 individual).
The program is an “open” program that can be applied in its entirety, ie the 3 modules. Either 1 or 2 modules can be applied independently: interaction module and / or cognitive module and / or emotional module. Applying a module, two or three will be marked by the need of the group of minors / young people, the interest of the technician and the duration of the measure.

professional teams
Academic lecturer at the Faculty of Education of the University of Barcelona, educators of Social Services and technicians and coordinators of the open environment teams of the management of Barcelona counties.
This team represents a wealth in the elaboration of the program, with a common professional objective of the field at the level of intervention and at the level of theory and research; aspect that guarantees a real program, adjusted to the needs and that responds to the immediate context.
It is based on a concept of pedagogical innovation that is defined by opposition and contrast to a common situation by modifying the system of relationships between young people-technicians-content.
Research has a fundamental value for the adaptation of innovation to reality. On the one hand, this project is the result of previous research. And, on the other hand, in this project it is proposed to make a diagnosis of the training needs of the agents to whom the application of the program is destined in order to be able to give a more real and accurate answer to the investigated reality.
Combination of individual sessions with group sessions within the modular program. Between both types of sessions there is a common thread that links the contents worked on in the group sessions with the individual ones. In addition, a record is provided of what is being worked on and emerges at the group level in order to be able to work in a more individualized and personalized way in the individual sessions.

Final report
A modular program allows us to make the application of programs more flexible in the context of an open environment and to respond better to the needs and characteristics of the group.
It should be noted that the design of this modular program includes two sessions that are carried out regardless of whether a module is applied, two or three:
Presentation. It is considered key to make a presentation of the program in order to investigate the expectations of minors / young people and identify
the level of knowledge and mastery they have over the contents to be worked on.
Closing, celebration and recognitionThe closing of the program with a reminder of how we were initially, at what point we are in
end the program around learning; and the celebration and recognition of the work done. This session involves reflecting on the whole learning process, the content learned, the goals achieved and positively reinforcing, through celebration and recognition, these learnings.
Conclusions
The need to develop programs that integrate various competency components with a holistic vision.
The richness of the collaborative process involved in the development of the program.
Benefits of coordination and commitment between all agents: UB and Social Services at various levels.
